Sam Silvey
Born in Chattanooga, TN, Sam Silvey has spent most of his life, in some way, shape or form, in the outdoors. From climbing and kayaking, to cycling and trail running, the outdoors have been a large part of his life. This amount of time in the outdoors inspired Sam to pick up a camera and start capturing some of the beauty he saw on a daily basis. Over the past twelve years, Sam has traveled the world racing his bicycle on and off the road, for professional teams and for pleasure. Late in 2008, a severe crash forced Sam to take a break from cycling and gave him the chance to pursue other paths. Sam decided to take his years of photography and programming experience and put them to use. What resulted was LookOutdoorNews.com, a website dedicated to outdoor news and photography.
LookOutdoorNews.com was started in 2008 by Sam Silvey as an outdoor news and photography site. Since that time he has used LookOutdoorNews to sponsor and organize events such as the Telluride Mountainfilm on Tour in Chattanooga and the North Shore Spring Festival Bike Parade. The Telluride Mountainfilm on Tour in Chattanooga single handedly raised over $2,000 for Southeastern Climbers Coalition, Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association and Appalachian Voices. Through the exposure of LookOutdoorNews.com, Sam began to acquire freelance jobs for photography, writing, and web design. During this time of freelance work, Sam and fellow freelancer, Matt Richardson, began discussing the idea of developing a design group. Thus, Hub Design Group was born.
