Chattanoogan, Matt Richardson, has been involved in creative projects since early childhood. He's been fiddling with computers since he began loading Space Invaders via cassette tape to a TRS-80 and been working on the business end of the internet since the early days of baud rates and bulletin boards. In addition, he is fascinated with the problem solving process and has an uncanny ability to make just about anything work.
Matt enjoys playing music with the Bashful Mountain Broadcasters, a very eclectic group of old time musicians. He sits behind the wood and steel of his six string guitar and seems to trickle in at just the right moment. The Broadcasters have performed at many a festivals and venues including the famous Ryman Auditorium.
When Matt isn't making mountain music he can be found on the local sandstone, bouldering or climbing with his friends and enjoying "the great things that Chattanooga has to offer."
Recently, Matt documented a trip to Washington to spread the word about the devastation of Mountain Top Removal (MTR) Mining. His friend, Sam Evans (along with Missy Petty for a portion of the journey) rode his bicycle from Knoxville, TN to Washington, DC to deliver the petition. Matt drove the support vehicle, provided photography and updated the website nightly with the daily gallery and blog entry. Visit Voices from the Desecrated Places to see some of his work and to learn more about MTR.
